After a deadlock in the first half, it took Cristiano Ronaldo’s brilliance to give Portugal the lead in the 46th minute. After receiving the ball from Diogo Jota on the left, the soccer icon got into the box quickly and drilled the left-footed shot to the top of the net. If he keeps scoring such goals, Portugal holds a significant chance to win the 2024 Euros. Ronaldo is now the joint top scorer of the 2024 Euro Qualifiers with 10 goals.
With 10 goals in the qualifications, Ronaldo surpasses Romelu Lukaku as the joint-top scorer. Lukaku, who left Inter Milan after a successful period, has also been impressive with his national team. He also has 9 goals and an assist to his name. Ronaldo also has one assist to go along with his number of goals.
This is not the first time the pair have combined to help Portugal win. Jota and Ronaldo have been involved in scoring six goals together, with Jota assisting the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner for the fourth time. Jota mentioned a couple of days ago how Ronaldo’s goalscoring at this age inspires him to do better. With all the present exploits by their star, the Portugal team is the winner.
