Cristiano Ronaldo and Al Nassr have won their first trophy together. The Portuguese superstar single-handedly led his side to an empathic Arab Club Champions Cup. Unfortunately, their triumph came at a price that both CR7 and the Jeddah-based club had to pay.

Sadly, the 38-year-old got his knee injured while helping his side win their first Arab Cup. This has seemingly left his coach fuming over the Saudi Arabian soccer federation’s ‘unfair’ match schedules.

After scoring two important goals, Ronaldo was forced to leave the field in the cart. In the 115th minute, he was substituted and couldn’t exit the pitch independently. Images surfaced as he left with tears in his eyes while touching his left knee. This is a major blow, especially for Al Nassr, as they are in contention to play their Saudi Pro League match tomorrow.

This has left Al Nassr boss Luis Castro fuming, who has called out the federations for keeping tight match schedules. He said, “This is unfair. Humanly, our match should be postponed with the agreement. Players are not machines. I don’t know what to do and how to play without risking the players.” The words were in regard to Ronaldo’s injury. Castro insists tomorrow’s match against Al-Ettifaq should have been postponed.

With Ronaldo looking completely out of the scene for tomorrow’s match, the gaffer seems clueless regarding the next step. Indeed, it is a huge blow for both Ronaldo and Al Nassr, as they won’t be together to face Steven Gerrard’s side. Nevertheless, yesterday, Ronaldo took center stage as he propelled the Jeddah-based club to victory with a remarkable two-goal performance.

CR7’s brace was instrumental in securing his team’s first Arab Club Champions Cup against Al Hilal. It was an impressive comeback as they were 1-0 down in the second half, as neither side could break the deadlock in the first 45 minutes.

The victory came even after they went 10 men down. Once again, Ronaldo proved his class as he stepped up for a big game when he needed to. He’ll be looking to keep his form throughout the season and win other domestic silverware as well. However, for now, the player must focus on his recovery.
