Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s signing by Chelsea was met with mixed responses mainly due to his injury issues and Arsenal allegiance. But everyone knew that he would fit in like a T for Thomas Tuchel. Unfortunately, things unfolded in the worst way possible for Auba. Thomas Tuchel soon got sacked, and he then found himself out of favor under new coach Graham Potter.
Meanwhile, he also had multiple off-field issues including fending off robbers. Overall, his stint at Chelsea couldn’t get worse. Luckily, he has now found Olympique de Marseille as his new home and his father couldn’t be more happy about it!

No father would ever want his son to go through what Aubameyang went through at Chelsea. In a recent interview, the former Arsenal striker’s father went all out against calling Auba’s season at Chelsea a nightmare.
His father first started off with the assault on his son by the robbers at his home in Spain. He then went on to stress its implications and how it impacted his performance. “His jaw was broken by robbers at his home in Barcelona while trying to protect his wife and children,” recalled Auba’s father.
“At Chelsea, he played with a mask at the start. It could only be a nightmare year. Now it’s over. He has a smile. He’s signing for (Marseille). It is a big relief after the nightmare year that he experienced (at Chelsea),” said Auba Sr with a sigh of relief.
Aubameyang will feel right at home in Marseille
Aubameyang’s transfer to Olympique de Marseille makes sense due to three reasons. The first as mentioned by his father is a much more calmer and cozier environment. Secondly, Auba is no stranger to Ligue 1. The former Barcelona striker started his career with stints in Ligue 1 sides Saint Etienne, AS Monaco, and Dijon.

Lastly, the striker will be joining his former Arsenal teammates at Marseille in Sead Kolasinac and Matteo Guendouzi. Most importantly, his strike partner up top will be Alexis Sanchez who he replaced back when he joined the Gunners in 2018. So fitting in at Marseille should be a cakewalk.

Overall, this looks like the best solution for Aubameyang. Nor will he have the pressure from a big fanbase like Chelsea or the heavy weight of a hefty salary in Saudi. At Marseille, the former Arsenal striker can rediscover himself and hopefully roll back the years one last time!
