The world of transfers is like two sides of a coin, with the positive and the negative side. Unfortunately, Barcelona and Real Madrid, two European powerhouses, have made decisions that significantly impacted their immediate and future prospects. In a report, their transfers of Philippe Coutinho and Eden Hazard have been that example.

However, it looks like the Culers topped the list for all the wrong reasons for all the losses they made. Notably, the colossal failure of the transfer of Brazilian shows why the Spanish giants have recently struggled.

When Neymar left Barcelona for PSG, the Spanish giants brought in another Brazilian in the form of Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool. They ended up paying a mega transfer fee of over $130 million. Unfortunately for the player and the club, the move did not materialize to greater heights. The Brazilian failed to handle the pressure of the enormous fee. In the end, he was sold to Premier League club Aston Villa. According to the CIES football observatory report, the Spanish giants made an enormous loss of $143 million on his sale. It was the heaviest loss they incurred from the period of 2014-2023. Their arch-rivals, Real Madrid, were second on the list as they incurred losses of $141 million on Eden Hazard’s transfer.

Philippe Coutinho was not the only player Barcelona made such an enormous loss on. The transfers of Ousmane DembeleAntoine Griezmann, and Luis Suarez also made the list. As far as the Coutinho transfer is concerned, last year, there were reports that the Spanish giants owed the transfer installments to Liverpool. It shows the mess Barcelona created for themselves.

As far as the career of Coutinho is concerned, a possible transfer to the MLS giants could be his last ray of hope.

The Brazilian wants Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez to rescue him from the desert!

After his impressive loan move with Aston Villa, he signed for the club on a permanent deal. However, like the Barcelona transfer, the move started falling apart. In a bid to take him off the wage bill, Villa loaned him out to Qatar side Al Duhail SC. However, reports have emerged that the Brazilian wants to cut short his adventure in Qatar.

Several rumors have also linked him with a reunion with his former Barcelona mates Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. Inter Miami are exploring a move for the Brazilian. However, he will have to take a pay cut on his 125,000 per week wages to make it possible.
