What is better than turning your supporters’ dreams into a reality? Wrexham AFC has become a perfect example of how to turn the tables in the last few years. It reached the third tier of English soccer despite struggling to survive the semi-professional National League a couple of years ago. And now the expectations seem to have sky-rocketed after two consecutive promotions. But, in an astonishing revelation, co-owner Rob McElhenney hints about their aim to land in the Championship in 2025.

Wrexham’s coach, Phil Parkinson, and his crew are in no mood to calm down in the upcoming season. It was revealed through McElhenney’s words recently in an interview, as he stated, “I was just with Phil and then just with the boys in Vegas, and they seem to think that we have a shot at being up there at the top once again.” This mentality comes as pleasant assurance, considering the apprehension of the Hollywood star.

McElhenney feels the next season will be more unique for his club than the earlier three. He stated, “Not that it wasn’t real before, but now it gets really real. League One is a very competitive division. The league as we know there are so many great clubs that have come down from Championship, and it going to be a lot tougher than it was the past year,” citing the quality of the competition.

Meanwhile, the third tier provides some stiff challenges for new clubs, especially when you are arriving after 19 years. The number of teams may not change in League One, but the inclusion of prestigious clubs with past victories in the First Division and FA Cup adds an extra dimension of challenge. Nevertheless, the Red Dragons are expected to upgrade parallelly.

It appears the decisions of the club’s management have been spot on until now. Their previous hirings turned surprising hits, with Ollie Palmer and Steven Fletcher assisting them in promotions. And now the club is on a bigger mission with many critical signings expected. League Two standout Arthur Okonkwo is a top target for Wrexham, who is keen to make him a permanent member. Additionally, the owners, director Shaun Harvey, and the coach are expected to meet and discuss the potential transfer plans for the summer.

However, the club did not hesitate to let go of eight players from last season, revealing the intentions of looking forward. But Wrexham’s recent rise to prominence, fueled by a surge in investment, injects a dose of intrigue into League One. They’re sure to be a must-watch team.
