Manchester City has been one of the best teams in the Premier League in recent times. The team is the only one that has been compared to Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United from their glorious years in the 90s and 2000s. And Kevin De Bruyne has been one of their key players. But the Belgian star doesn’t seem to fit in his teammate Phil Foden’s league team of all time. However, another Manchester United legend made his way instead of the midfielder.

Foden himself has been turning out to be one of the club’s best homegrown players. Growing up to be a fan of the club Foden has an idea about its star players. And speaking to Daily Mail the Englishman chose to go with Wayne Rooney instead of Kevin De Bruyne in the Best PL XI of all time. The list of players are, Ederson, Kyle Walker, Vincent Kompany, Virgil Van Dijk, Ashley Cole, Cristiano Ronaldo, Patrick Vieira, David Silva, Thierry Henry; Wayne Rooney, and Sergio Aguero. Nevertheless, Foden had justification for the selection of few players.

Going for 6 players who played for the Sky Blues at least once, Foden stated, “I’m serious though, I don’t see another right back,” having no doubts about Walker’s place. Regarding Viera’s selection, he stated, “I feel like [Silva] needs that protection, so it’s a good balance,’ citing his strong central defensive skills. However, there was nothing spoken about De Bruyne’s exclusion in the attacking midfield.

Meanwhile, De Brune was one of the main reasons for City gaining their first treble. Even though he scored just ten goals last season the player provided a total of 31 assists the whole season and 18 alone in the Premier League. In addition, he has the third-highest assists in league history with 111. However, Rooney made his legacy with five titles, 208 goals, and 103 assists in the league was chosen above the 32-year-old.

Even though Kevin De Bruyne has made a legacy at City, the player has been suffering from injuries recently. The player was removed after the 90 minutes against Real Madrid in a game that burnt out most of the players. After being sidelined for 5 months due to a hamstring injury, coach Pep Guardiola recently said that he was exhausted after the second half. De Bruyne anyway did not leave the pitch without once again being the main contributor with the only goal that took the game to penalties before getting knocked out.

Nevertheless, Guardiola is confident that the Belgian will be ok for the rest of the season. The Manchester team is on their way to win a four-peat. However, with a very slender lead of two over Arsenal and Liverpool, their best players will prove handy if they are to win the league. And whether Kevin De Bruyne will take them home again has to be seen.
