It seems it’s raining hat tricks in soccer. Recently, Cristiano Ronaldo took the spotlight for scoring three goals in two consecutive matches for Al Nassr. Now, Manchester City’s Phil Foden followed suit in last night’s 4-1 victory against Aston Villa. In fact, with this stellar display, the English midfielder has emulated the remarkable feats of Ronaldo as well as the legendary Chelsea duo of Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba.

As compiled by Squawka, Foden has now scored 3 hat tricks in the Premier League, similar to what CR7 and both Blues icons scored in their time in England. Scoring triples isn’t the only forte that the Stockport-born star has excelled in. He has also won more Premier League trophies than Ronaldo, Lampard, and Drogba. What comes out to be astonishing is the fact that the City Academy graduate is just 23. Considering he commits his future to the Sky Blues for many more years, he can outshine all three legends.

Notably, Pep Guardiola made a couple of big calls in his starting XI to face Unai Emery’s side, with both Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland on the bench. Coincidentally, the Spaniard didn’t really need them, as Foden turned up nicely. After Rodri’s 11-minute strike, he opened the scoring just before halftime with a free-kick and later added a brace in the second half with a left-foot finish. Interestingly, Foden’s first hattrick came in last season’s Manchester derby, which City won 6-3. The second came against Brentford on February 6.

This season, he has been a key figure for Guardiola, bagging 14 goals and 7 assists in over 30 games. Nevertheless, it is quite a significant milestone for Foden. However, when compared with all-time hat tricks, he is way behind.

Where does Phil Foden stand on the list of the most hat tricks in the Premier League?

Three hat tricks are just the beginning for Phil Foden, as he lags far behind on the overall list. His club legend Sergio Aguero takes first place with over 12 hat tricks, followed by Newcastle legend Alan Shearer (11) and Robbie Fowler (9). The list continues with former Tottenham star Harry Kane, ex-Liverpool star Michael Owen, and Arsenal icon Thierry Henry, all tied with 8 hat tricks. But that’s not all.

Former Red Devils striker Wayne Rooney (7) is ahead of Luis Suarez with just a hat trick. Meanwhile, others on the list include Andrew Cole, Robin van Persie, Dimitar Berbatov, Ruud van Nistelrooy, and Ian Wright, all tied with 5. Additionally, Foden’s former teammate Raheem Sterling and current teammate Erling Haaland are also tied to such legends. Can we expect Phil Foden to climb up the list? Only time will tell.
