Manchester City are currently under pressure after they had to settle for a 3-3 draw against Tottenham Hotspur. They remain winless in their last three Premier League games. However, a pundit feels Pep Guardiola could have avoided the draw in their game against the Spurs. He also discussed how the team pointed out three ‘particular’ problems in their game.

The team and manager are mindful of the primary contenders for the top four spots, with a minimal point difference between them. Hence, the Sky Blues cannot afford to keep dropping points from winning positions, which could potentially hurt their title credentials.

Notably, the defense of Manchester City looked vulnerable once again as they conceded three goals against Spurs. Meanwhile, injuries kept mounting on Spurs as they salvaged a draw. Hence, pundit Steve Nicol has pointed out the three problems. He said, “The first thing is that you’ve got players who individually are not at their best.”

He continued, “In particular, I’m thinking of Gvardiol, who’s playing left-back, if you ask. I’ve never met a center-back who wants to play wide and a fullback who wants to play fullback. The other one is Diaz. This guy was a footballer of the year not long ago, and at the weekend all he had to do was one-on-one with Lo Celso to stop a goal, and he couldn’t do it.

The third problem that Steve Nicol has pointed out is that, while defending, they were all in the wrong positions defensively. An example is the goal from Son in the 6th minute when Tottenham got the opportunity to counterattack from City’s corner. The last person defending the goal was Jeremy Doku. Steve Nicol has pointed out that if a defender tracked back there instead of the Belgian winger, they would have defended successfully.

Manchester City fans will assuredly have concerns regarding their current form. However, Pep Guardiola will have confidence in his team that they can make a comeback. But he will sort out the defensive problems.

Manchester City continues to leak goals!

At the moment, the defense of Manchester City is all over the place. They have conceded ten goals in the last four games in all competitions. Pep Guardiola’s side is generally defensively efficient in the second half of the season. This defense includes their new summer signing, Josko Gvardiol, and a reliable Ruben Dias.

In the game against Liverpool, they were dominant. However, the defensive lapse led to Trent Alexander Arnold getting an equalizer. The same has happened against Chelsea and Tottenham. The team failed to hold on to their lead in these particular matches.

The midfield and forward line are also performing well. Despite scoring plenty of goals, they will have to improve their defense. It is because, as the famous quote from Sir Alex Ferguson goes, attackers can win your games. Whereas, defense can win you a title!
