Burglars broke into Jack Grealish’s mansion and stole possessions worth more than $1 million during the Manchester City-Everton match. Incidentally, during Christmas, Grealish and his influencer fiance, Sasha Attwood, had showcased the cozy interiors of their new $6 million Cheshire mansion. Apparently, City boss Pep Guardiola is now worried about players’ increased social media activity. He has warned his players to ‘not put much’ on social media so that burglars ‘know less.’

During the burglary, Grealish’s fiance and ten relatives were at the house. Fortunately, nobody got hurt. But that has not always been the case regarding home break-ins. Thieves physically assaulted City player Joao Cancelo, who is now with Barcelona on loan. Therefore, Guardiola couldn’t help but request all his players to be careful.

Guardiola did not shy away from addressing the unfortunate incident at Jack Grealish’s home. It has prompted the Spanish boss to give a wake-up call to all social media buffs in the City camp. “It happens many times, not just in the UK, in Catalunya. I know more because I’m there with my family. They have to be careful. Putting not much on social media. The less they know what they’re doing, the better,” Pep Guardiola said. The treble-winning manager’s advice to players is more than apt.

Grealish and Sasha Attwood posted pictures from their elaborate Christmas dinner. Two days after this, burglars breached security to rob jewelry and watches worth more than $1 million. The incident is all the more alarming, considering how City players have gone through similar ordeals due to increased social media activity.

When other City stars faced the same fate as Grealish

Notably, four burglars attacked Joao Cancelo’s home in Hale, Manchester, in 2021. Making things worse, the Portuguese defender had then got hurt. Meanwhile, ex-Manchester City attacker Riyad Mahrez too had encountered the same saddening fate. The now Al Ahli star had posted pictures of his exorbitant watch collection on Instagram in 2020. Subsequently, thieves raided his Manchester penthouse, stealing watches worth more than $500,000.

Players live a King-sized life, making the best of their hard-earned fortune. But flaunting these riches on social media is not always a good idea, Pep Guardiola asserts. The Man City gaffer’s assertion could not be more true considering the uncanny similarity between the crimes that happened at Mahrez and Grealish’s home. Players like Erling Haaland, who are active in the social media space, will now perhaps think twice before revealing it all to the vigilant burglars. Does Pep have a point to be noted?
