The debacle over Manchester United‘s performance against Coventry isn’t ending anytime soon. Despite securing a win on penalties, critics are unimpressed with Erik ten Hag‘s side. Many believe United were subpar throughout the contest and did not deserve the win after bottling their 3-0 lead in less than 20 minutes. Well, Erik ten Hag hasn’t taken too kindly to the opinion with the Dutchman blasting the media for building a perception around the team, and it seems he has found a supporter in Pep Guardiola!
The Manchester City boss spoke on the scheduled FA Cup final clash ahead of his team’s against Brighton. Guardiola gave Manchester United their flowers, claiming it isn’t easy to make it to two finals in back-to-back seasons. The Spaniard stated, “A big success for both clubs, two years in a row being in the FA Cup final. It’s a big success, and we have time to prepare for that game. Still, we have six finals in the Premier League, and after we have one week to prepare for the final.”

As someone who has been a keen admirer of the sport, it doesn’t seem like Guardiola’s treating the game any differently than any other game. Well, it would be weird to do so for a team like City, with the team built to chase top silverware.
Pep Guardiola looks to walk one step closer to the Premier League title
The reigning Premier League champions will be put to the sword as they travel to the Falmer Stadium later tonight. Pep Guardiola’s side will be in action against Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton as they look to secure all three points. The pressure is undoubtedly on City after Arsenal’s massive win over Chelsea. The Gunners are back on top of the Premier League standings with 77 points.

Manchester City is currently 3rd in the standings with 73 points. However, the side has a two-game advantage over their rivals and has a significant chance to secure a 2 points lead with two wins in their upcoming games. Back-to-back wins for Pep Guardiola’s side will pile the pressure on Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, who, unfortunately, has become well-known for collapsing under pressure.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s chance to lift the Premier League title has taken a massive dent after their 2-0 defeat in the Merseyside derby. Jurgen Klopp’s side now has 74 points from 34 games and risks falling behind the title race. The Premier League once again looks like Manchester City’s to lose, and only time will tell if Pep Guardiola’s men can make history by the end of the season.
