Kevin De Bruyne has made a stellar comeback in the English Premier League after 5 months of rehabilitation for his hamstring injury. The talisman provided a match-winning goal and an assist against Newcastle United in the previous game. But the team’s mettle has been tested in the last few months with also an injury to Erling Haaland. However, that did not let Pep Guardiola give up, getting back to #2 place. This season saw other players like Rodri, Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden, and Julian Alvarez step up and be strong enough to weather the storm.
Hence, the Manchester City iconic boss focused on the importance of being positive and moving on with available resources. In a pre-game presser, Guardiola stated, “We are stronger with Kevin and Erling, but we cannot cry and wait five months (when they are missing) – we have to move forward, and we have done that. He admitted that he wasn’t ‘a big fan of finding excuses‘. He further expressed his expectations from the two of them. Will they feature in the upcoming Tottenham clash?

Haaland was the chief stalwart for Manchester City after Kevin De Bruyne’s injury until the Norwegian fell to an ankle injury in early December. The player seems to be recovering well, but the injury has turned out to be more severe than anticipated. As informed, the expected recovery time for the current injury is 6 to 8 weeks; hence, Pep is willing to wait a few more days.

Speaking further, he said, “Coming back after two three sessions he felt a little bit of disturbance; that’s why we were cautious, but now he feels good, and in three or four more days, hopefully against Burnley, he can play some minutes, and after that, we will see.”
Additionally, the Cityzens cannot completely assume Kevin De Bruyne’s full recovery. Pep has confirmed he is ready since the Newcastle game but would like to keep him under observation. “Really soon, he will play from the beginning. He trained really well in Abu Dhabi, and after every session, the recovery in his leg is behaving well,” Guardiola asserted, adding that he needs to work off the pitch a bit more.
