Manchester City has been on a roll for the last half a decade, with the Cityzens dominating England with their consistent performances. Pep Guardiola‘s arrival at the Etihad has transformed the team into world beaters and it doesn’t look like the team plans on stopping anytime soon. The Cityzens have etched their name in history once again as the side bagged a 2-0 over Newcastle United to punch their ticket to the FA Cup semifinals.

The win over the Magpies is special in many regards. City’s qualification to the semifinals makes them the first team in the FA Cup’s history to qualify for the fixture for six consecutive seasons. Pep Guardiola’s side has kept their hopes alive to repeat their historic treble with the team still alive in the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup.

The match against Newcastle saw Manchester City dominate their opponents from start to finish. Pep Guardiola’s men dominated the flow of the game as they kept the ball under their control for most of the game playing a controlled possession style of game. Bernardo Silva was the only scorer in the contest, with the Portuguese star finding a brace with both his goals coming off deflections from Newcastle’s defenders.

With the win City has ensured to keep their unbeaten streak intact. However, the team will now have to re-plan their calendar with the Premier League making some big changes to the team’s fixtures following their win over Newcastle.

Manchester City’s clash against Tottenham moved until further notice

The win over Newcastle United has also seen the Premier League make changes to City’s schedule. With Guardiola’s side now locked for a trip to Wembley, the team’s game against Tottenham has been postponed until further notice. Manchester City was set to face Tottenham on the 20th of April but now will probably face the opponents during the last weeks of the season.

The team’s game against Brighton has also been rescheduled as a part of the fixture congestion. City was scheduled to face the Seagulls tonight, but the game had to be scheduled with the hosts tied against Newcastle in the FA Cup. The two rescheduled games could provide the Cityzens with a slight advantage during the last stretch of their campaign, as the team will have ample time on their hands to plan heading into their games.
