Inter Miami is surely on cloud nine after getting their hands on their first-ever trophy for the club. It was the Leagues Cup trophy that was at stake when Lionel Messi and Inter Miami CF locked horns with Nashville FC in the final of the tournament. After the nail-biter, some critics even commented that the tournament was rigged and fixed, to which the club’s co-owner, David Beckham had a sweet response.
Miami’s co-owner David Beckham was more than happy after adding the first trophy to Inter Miami’s cabinet. It was an ‘emotional’ night for the club’s co-chairman. He described the tournament run for Miami to be movie-like, taking a jab at the critics. Lionel Messi and his teammates will be looking to continue their unbeaten magical run ahead of the tournament, eyeing the US Open Cup semifinal as well.

With Inter Miami CF playing every game with high courage and intent to win, they’ve shown they can challenge for major trophies this season. Although, some people have criticized the tournament as well. Stating that Miami’s run toward victory in the Leagues Cup was ‘rigged’ or ‘fixed’.

Famous MLS and Forbes writer, Favian Renkel, tweeted on Sunday about Beckham’s comments on the situation and criticism. When asked, if the tournament run looked like a movie for Inter Miami, Beckham said:
“It does. It does. People keep saying that. You know, every time Leo scores one of these goals, every time Busi makes one of these passes, every time Jordi makes one of these runs, people say, is it fixed? It’s the biggest compliment anyone can give these players because it is like a movie”.

David Beckham was in attendance along with his wife Victoria for the Leagues Cup final at Geodis Park in Nashville, Tennessee. He shared a touching moment with his wife, Victoria on the pitch after Inter Miami won their first-ever silverware.
Beckham won 19 major trophies during his career as a footballer, but it’s his first piece of silverware since retiring and turning to club ownership. The Englishman will be more than happy for his players, as he hopes for Lionel Messi and Co. to challenge for one more silverware and book a spot in the final of another historic US soccer competition.
Another silverware in sight for Lionel Messi and Inter Miami
Lionel Messi and Inter Miami have their first trophy in possession barely a month after the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner joined the Herons, and now they’re eying another cup victory.
Messi scored a sensational out-of-the-box strike against Nashville FC in the Leagues Cup final on Saturday to put Miami 1-0 up but the Tennessee side was successful in forcing the match to the penalties after scoring the equalizer. Miami side emerged victorious with a 10-9 scoreline in the penalties and won their first title in their three-year history.
The Argentine has scored 10 goals in his seven games for the Herons so far and emerged as the top scorer in the competition. The Miami side will be once again looking for Messi’s masterclass when they face FC Cincinnati in the semi-final of the US Open Cup in Ohio on Wednesday. Inter Miami CF will be looking to clinch a spot in the final and add another glory to their season.
