Trinity Rodman is an emerging name in the US soccer scenario. The 20-year-old has an impressive resume after going pro in 2021. Fans knew Trinity as the daughter of NBA legend Dennis Rodman earlier. Things are changing, rather have changed already. The USWNT starlet made a name for herself in the first professional season, winning the Rookie of the Year in NWSL after being drafted as the youngest player in NWSL history in 2021.

Washington Spirit forward took the 2021 NWSL by storm. She provided league-high seven assists and scored seven goals in the NWSL winning campaign. She is the highest-paid player in the NWSL after Spirit gave her a $1.1 million deal. Her 2021 got her place in the USWNT in 2022, and she has already won the She Believes Cup twice and CONCACAF Women’s Championship once. 

Back in 2022, the Spirit forward contemplated on her surname and how she is coming out of the shadow of her father.

Trinity Rodman is happy that the world recognizes her

It was not going to be easy for Trinity Rodman to come out of the shadow of her father when she decided to go pro in soccer in 2021. She also came into NWSL without playing a single game of college soccer. Spirit picked her second in the NWSL College Draft, thus becoming the youngest drafted player in NWSL history. 

She marked her debut with a goal in five minutes after coming on as a substitute. Her goal contributions helped Spirit reach the playoffs and win the NWSL championship. Her impact won her the Rookie of the Year in 2021 and a place in the season’s Best XI. Star was born. It took a year for her to make a name for herself. The fans started to recognize her as a soccer player rather than an NBA legend’s daughter.

Trinity Rodman spoke about it last year. She said, “People do know Trinity Rodman sometimes before Dennis Rodman now. That’s a cool thing for me. I’m not trying to overcome what he accomplished, I just want to build my own story, and I think I’m doing a really good job.”

The Spirit forward keeps up her form

Rodman has started the season in the great possible way. Washington Spirit is second in the table after three games, winning two and drawing one. Rodman scored a winner in the first game against OL Reigns. The NBA legend’s daughter assisted in her second game, where Spirit shared a point with Racing Louisville.

Rodman again scored in the third game against North Carolina Courage to help Spirit get all three points. She is in contention for the World Cup roster this year. The horrific injury to Mallory Swanson gives Rodman a chance to get more minutes in the tournament, and she has excellently started the season.
