Erling Haaland would be a dream signing for FC Barcelona. The Norwegian superstar is already on the radar of the Catalans, who have vocally expressed their interest in the striker. However, their arch-rivals, Real Madrid, are also in contention, possibly generating a tug-of-war for his signature. Amidst the looming battle, Pedri expressed his desire to share the locker room with the prolific striker.
This candid wish was voiced in a lengthy chat with the popular Spanish streamer, Ibai Llanos, on Twitch. The Kings Leagues co-founder asked Pedri to name any one player that he would like to have in Barca. Interstingly, the midfielder replied, “I would choose Messi at 19 or 22 years old, of course. But since that’s not possible, I’d go with Haaland.” Pedri is vocally rooting for Haaland to wear the red and blue jersey rather than the white jersey because he dreams of playing alongside the prolific striker.

While Pedri echoes every Barca fan’s ambitions, the pursuit of the Norwegian international will not be an easy task for the Blaugranas. Standing in front of them is their long-term rival, Real Madrid. According to the reports, the Spanish capital is not only targeting Kylian Mbappe but also wants to add Haaland to their ranks. Having both of them won’t be an issue for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, given their strong financial backing, unlike Barcelona, who unfortunately might struggle to sign Haaland.

FC Barcelona might not be able to afford Erling Haaland
Months ago, Barcelona’s highly-rated teenager, Lamine Yamal, signed a new contract with the Catalans, which will keep him at Camp Nou till 2026. Despite this deal, Victor Font, the club’s executive director, addressed potential challenges in forthcoming contract renewals. Font also recognized the hurdles they might confront in their bid to secure Erling Haaland’s signature.

Font stated, “Either we change the management model or tomorrow we will not be able to renew Lamine [referring to a future renewal]. Or we will not be able to compete for Haaland when he wants to play in the Spanish La Liga.” His remarks underscore the imperative need for a shift in the club’s administrative approach, as failure to do so may put a stop to their ability to be flexible in the transfer market. This is certainly concerning for Xavi’s side, as it shatters their dream to sign Haaland.
