The EFL League Two race has reached a fever pitch for Wrexham AFC. With just four games remaining, the Red Dragons are gearing up to conclude the season with a top-three finish to create history. But there’s more. Amidst this pivotal moment, star player Paul Mullin is also close to a Welsh club’s half-century-old record, forcing owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney to throw their weight behind the striker.
The no. 10 has matched the record set by Wrexham’s legendary striker, Albert Kinsey, of scoring 100 goals. Additionally, Mullin is poised to become the first top-league scorer in three consecutive seasons for the club since Albert did so in the early 1970s. Coincidentally, both center forwards were born in the Liverpool area. Notably, the achievement came in last night’s match against Colchester, with the Dragons winning 1-2, where he scored an equalizer, with defender Max Cleworth scoring his first goal. This accomplishment caught the eye of Reynolds, who couldn’t stop himself from acknowledging his favorite player.
The Deadpool star shared an Instagram story of Wrexham’s last night’s scoreline’s post. He first wrote “FOUR GAMES REMAINING,” above the post and then added several check boxes that his side had achieved. It said, “Come from behind✅. Paul Mullin’s 100th goal ✅. Max Cleworth’s 1st goal✅. Life-threatening tension and gut-wrenching suspense as we come to the close of another WTF-bonkers season✅.” Reynolds also tagged Rob McElhenney, who reposted on his account.

This caption from Reynolds is enough to suggest the rollercoaster of emotions the owners are enduring as the season closes. Also, the Canadian actor is happy with Mullin’s feat. This brings up a question as to where the 28-year-old striker stands on the all-time list.

Where does Paul Mullin rank in the Wrexham AFC’s all-time top-scorer list?
Paul Mullin still trails quite far behind on the club’s all-time list. Tommy Bamford remains the highest goalscorer in the history of Wrexham, with over 213 goals. Behind Bamford is Bert Goode with a tally of 148 and Arfon Griffiths is in the top 3 with 5 goals less than that of Goode. Speaking for Mullin, the Welsh international stands in 9th place, tied alongside Albert Kinsey. So, who else is ahead of him?
Mullin is also behind the likes of Karl Connolly (122), Graham Whittle (118), Gary Bennett (114), Ron Hewitt (109) and Tommy Bannan (104). While these names can be surpassed in the next season, he would still need more than 100 goals to even reach the number one spot. We reckon that Mullin can become Wrexham’s top goal scorer in history until Reynolds and Co. achieve their dream of reaching the Premier League.
