It is safe to say that the trajectory of Wrexham AFC would have been vastly different, without Ryan Reynolds & Co. The Deadpool actor along with fellow star Rob McElhenney bought the club in 2020 for $2.5 million. Four years later, the Red Dragons stand proud after a historic double promotion. Reynolds has promised further transfers and incoming to face the stern challenges of League One. However, it’s not just his commitment to bolster the soccer club that impresses his players. Paul Mullins revealed a special trait of the Deadpool actor that showcased his endearing relations with his players.

In a recent interview, the Wrexham striker revealed an impressive aspect of the Hollywood A-lister. Mullins told the Guardian, “As soon as we leave the pitch, Ryan Reynolds is the first to text me, even before my missus.” He also added, “They’re (Reynolds and McElhenney)  always there in spirit, and online, at every game.” Unlike, some other owners who are in it for the money, the Hollywood duo has a genuine vision for the club. As such, supporters and players have bought into their ideas and philosophy.

Moreover, Ryan Reynolds is already looking ahead to next season. Manager Phil Parkinson has warned that the EFL League One will be a ‘big test.’ As a result, the Wrexham owners are plotting a big money move for League Two topscorer Macaulay Langstaff. For Reynolds, all this effort is centered on achieving his Premier League dream. While many had laughed at the audacity of his dreams, Paul Mullin has always had faith in the Deadpool star’s vision.

Months back, Ryan Reynolds had expressed his desire to see Wrexham compete in the top flight of English soccer. He had said, “In 10 years’ time, the plan has and always will be the Premier League. If it’s theoretically possible to go from the fifth tier to the Premier League, why wouldn’t we try?.” At the time, many found this an outlandish take. But not Paul Mullins.

Backing his boss, the striker said, “The sky really is the limit. They can achieve the Premier League but who knows how long it could take. It could take five, 10, 20 years, or it could take four – you just never know in this game.” Furthermore, Mullins also praised the support from the fans as the push needed to go higher up the divisions. Right now, Wrexham is in EFL League One. Two more promotions and the Red Dragons will be in the Premier League! Hence, Ryan Reynolds could see his 10-year plan materialized in just 5 years. Will it happen? Let’s wait and watch.
