Mullin, who was in California during the match, had to endure a late-night kickoff to witness the knockout match. As the match led to the penalty kicks, Mullin explained how he had started grabbing his injured ribs in excitement. Predicting the result of Lina Hurtig’s decisive penalty gave him a massive adrenaline rush.

“I stayed up for the USWNT’s last-16 game with Sweden, which kicked off at 2 am here in California, and the drama of the shootout had me holding my ribs,” wrote Mullin. “I was on the edge of my seat. Seeing whether or not Lina Hurtig’s decisive penalty had gone over the line was gripping. This was football at its most dramatic,” boldly opined the striker. While the match was exciting, he definitely should be more careful playing with his fractured ribs. After all, he wouldn’t want to extend his recovery and add to the Wrexham woes.
