“Out of Your League”- Days After Being Allegedly Forced Out of Gerard Pique’s Home, Shakira Brings Out Her ‘Barbie’ Persona in a Subtle Dig at Her Ex-Boyfriend

Shakira has made her feeling about her breakup very clear to the public. After staying in what seemed to be an unending stage of drama and controversy in the 10 months following her split with Gerard Pique, both ex-lovers seemed intent on taking constant jabs and digs at each other ever since the breakup happened.

From Shakira releasing diss tracks targeting Pique to him announcing new partnerships with Casio and Twingo just to troll her, the drama between the two often seemed as if it would never slow down. Now, even after Shakira left Barcelona to relocate with her kids to Miami, the drama between the two continues strongly.

Shakira recently used her Instagram stories to hop on the ‘Barbie’ movie poster filter trend while taking a subtle dig at Pique in the process.

Shakira’s latest dig at Gerard Pique

On her Instagram stories, she first posted her picture with the ‘Barbie’ movie poster filter and captioned it, “This Barbie is proud to be Latin American”. She also attached a link to her Pique diss track ‘TQG’ along with the post.

This is clearly a reference to a Tweet she made earlier saying, “Proud to be Latin American”. She gave out this tweet after her ex-boyfriend called her “Latin American” while accusing her fans of attacking him.

In a second post, she posted another picture with the same filter but this time with the caption “This Barbie is out of your league”. Once again, she provided a link to her other diss track ‘BZRP Music Session #53’ along with it.

She did not, however, attempt to shoot the former Barcelona star in the third image. “This Barbie is Shakira Shakira!” Shakira said. She once more included a link to her song with the image, this time to her well-known song ‘Hips Don’t Lie’.

It is safe to say that every move Shakira has made since her breakup with Pique has been intentional and full of symbolism. From the music videos to lyrics, to the current subtle Instagram story dig, all have been Shakira’s quiet way of sending a powerful message. However, what’s more, interesting is that it came just a few days after Shakira was forced to leave Gerard Pique’s home.

Shakira was forced to leave her home early

Shakira had been planning to move away from her and Pique’s home in Barcelona for months. However, the move kept being put off due to some health issues of her parents. Nevertheless, at the start of April, she moved with her two sons to Miami.

It has come out that this was earlier than planned for Shakira. She was forced to leave because of an eviction letter sent by Joan Pique, Gerard Pique’s father. Spanish media have referred to this notice as Pique’s “final blow” against Shakira.
