Wrexham AFC has hit it out of the park again. Just moments ago, the club’s record-breaking documentary, ‘Welcome to Wrexham’, finally won the Emmy Award. But the spotlight has shifted towards the recipient of the award, as ‘Mr. Lively’, aka Ryan Reynolds, surprisingly sent Deadpool to receive the ‘broken Emmy’ instead.
While the Wrexham owners couldn’t make it to the award show, they made a hilarious 1-minute video to make up for their absence, posted on Instagram with the caption, “Welcome to Wrexham, Emmys – all FIVE of you.” McElhenney starts the message by expressing his happiness for five wins, including outstanding unstructured reality series, directing, cinematography, picture editing, and sound mixing. However, as McElhenney was about to mention his thanks to all the people, Reynolds, wearing his Deadpool mask and holding the Emmy, took the frame and said, “Whoo!… Wow, Mr. Lively couldn’t be here to accept this broken Emmy, so he sent me [Deadpool] on his behalf.
He added, “First and foremost, Wrexham, we love you. Thank you for letting Rob and the other guy tell your story. Cymru am byth, b**ches.” While expressing his gratitude to the Academy for ‘not asking them to attend the televised awards show with the real celebrities,’ the Canadian-born actor also gave a shoutout to FX and Disney. “Mr. Lively promises not f**k up my next movie. Lastly, the Oscars. You’re on notice, m**********rs. Maybe we can get a token VFX nod next year. The amount of work on Hugh and Ryan’s face alone is at least worth a nod,” concluded Reynolds.
