While Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo might be at the twilight of their career, soccer could soon witness a new era. The recent years have seen some of the top young talents across the globe step up to the challenge and make a splash. The likes of Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland are amongst the creme de la creme, with many considering the two to be perfect successors to Messi and Ronaldo!

Many fans have already destined the players for greatness and it seems like one of Mbappe’s former teammates has the same opinion. Former PSG star Javier Pastore opened up on Kylian Mbappe’s mentality in an interview with French media outlet LaNacion.

During the interview, Pastore lauded Mbappe, comparing his work ethic with Messi and Ronaldo. The ex-PSG star stated, “I spoke a lot with Kylian, he is a very focused boy: he lost a final and the next day he was already thinking about the next thing he was going to win. He has an incredible mentality. I know him very well, I have a very nice relationship with him and he is a winner, he competes 100%.”

He then added, “I’m surprised by how serious he is at that age. That seriousness had only been seen in Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi. In new generations, it is very difficult to find the concentration and seriousness that Kylian has. I don’t see it in other young people… maybe I do in Haaland. But it’s hard to find those traits. Kylian is always focused and willing to give more, and that always surprised me.”

While it may be tough to imagine any player reaching the same level of success the two icons have reached throughout their respective career, Kylian Mbappe seems to have grabbed the opportunity with both hands. The Frenchman is already a World Cup winner, something that took La Pulga his entire career.
