Brazilian soccer legend Thiago Silva made his way home to much fanfare. Silva, following his run with Chelsea, was unveiled as a Fluminense star in front of his home crowd. This will be Thiago Silva’s second run with the club with the player earning his plaudits during his initial stint with the club. Silva’s Brazilian teammate Neymar Jr was in awe of the move with the Al Hilal star praising the ex-Chelsea star.

Neymar took to his Instagram handle as he shared Thiago Silva’s post on his story alongside a special message for his team. The Al Hilal star stated, “You deserve every recognition. One of the greatest I’ve ever seen. One time to be your friend. ❤️❤️❤️

Thiago Silva played with Fluminense during the early years of his career. The decorated center-back made 97 appearances for the club during his time at the club from 2006 to 2008. Silva then made his move to the Italian giant AC Milan for $12.5 million in 2009. While he had a great run in the Serie A, Silva established himself as one of the best defenders in the world following his move to Paris Saint Germain. Despite being 39, the Brazilian played a big part in Chelsea’s defense last season and will be eager to put on similar performances for his boyhood club.

The Maracana was packed to the brim by Fluminense fans as the club unveiled Thiago Silva as their latest signing. The crowd was full of energy as they cheered on the veteran defender. Fireworks kept going off in the background as Thiago Silva made it to the stage, drowned in applause. The player thanked the fans for being there for his return and promised fans he was still hungry to win more titles.

Silva talked about the love from fans following his introduction at the Maracana. The Brazilian icon took to his Instagram handle, stating, “An unforgettable night at Maraca. Thanks to all the Tricolors! Love you guys.”
