The sensational soccer club Wrexham AFC is up and running to EFL League Two following a spectacular promotion. The owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, completely turned the club around. They received a promotion after 15 years, and fans are happy with the progress. Likewise, star forward Ollie Palmer appeared in a recent interview to explain the impact. In addition, he also took a sly dig at multi-talented Grammy award winner Ed Sheeran. 

The player explained how Ed did not carry the same aura as Ryan and Rob. Palmer took out various points to explain the situation. Hence, the take on Sheeran shocked some fans as he downplayed his ownership career. Moreover, they are in for shrewd recruitment as club manager Phil Parkinson revealed lately. The Hollywood stars are running the club very well.

Palmer appeared in the Ben Foster podcast to discuss the impact both owners bought on the club. Palmer stated, “There are names as big as them that own football clubs, lower league. Ed Sheeran, Ipswich. I don’t know what his share of it is [he’s] part-owner. Has he done what these two guys have done?” 

Foster reiterated his point by stating it was “nowhere near” what the Hollywood owners managed. For a while, Ed Sheeran has been sponsoring Ipswich Town FC shirts. 

 

Palmer continued his questions regarding Sheeran’s involvement with the club. He mentioned, “How long has Ed Sheeran been there? Six years? Seven years? And he’s as big as Ryan and Rob, right? Ed Sheeran is huge.”

The soccer star ended his thoughts by stating, “I am putting Ed Sheeran up there. I will ask you. Has Ed Sheeran done as much for Ipswich as Rob and Ryan have done? It is not easy what they are doing. They make it look easy, and I’m sure Ed Sheeran’s a great guy. I am just trying to leverage what Rob and Ryan have done–it’s not just the status, [it’s] the hard work they’ve put in.”

One of the oldest English soccer clubs continues to rise

Significantly, the star singer sponsored the shirts from the 2021/22 season. Since then, he has been continuously showing his support for the club. After Sheeran took over the sponsorship, there was an increase in sales. Of course, there is some impact involved with Sheeran’s influence.

Considering Ryan and Rob’s impact, they strive hard to get the club back on top. The end goal is to get into the English Premier League. But will that be possible? Surely, they are not shying away from a fight!
