Olivier Giroud is one of the most underrated soccer players of this generation. The French national currently plays soccer at AC Milan with soccer great, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, in Italy. Giroud had a really good FIFA World Cup campaign too. The soccer veteran was set to step up to the starting XI after Karim Benzema returned back home after picking up an injury before the FIFA World Cup.

Olivier Giroud’s contract currently expires at the end of the 2023 season. AC Milan has the flexibility of extending his contract by another season because of a clause in the contract. However, Giroud has recently revealed that he is open to moving to America if it does not work out for him in Italy.

After Benzema picked up an unfortunate injury, every fan had really high expectations from Giroud. The French soccer veteran managed to score four goals in six games at the FIFA World Cup. The French striker is currently waiting for AC Milan to take a decision on his future.
Whilst in conversation with Canal+Sport, Giroud has made it clear that he is ready to stay in Italy. However, the French striker shockingly revealed that he would also be open to choosing the MLS. He also termed America as an “exotic” destination.

According to MSN, Giroud’s dialogue with Canal+Sport translates to, “I want to renew with Milan, with the Scudetto win I entered the hearts of the fans. I’m talking with the club, if there’s a chance to finish my career at a high level at Milan I’ll do it. I could choose an exotic destination, I’ve always liked MLS”.

American soccer fans are extremely hyped about Giroud’s chances to join the MLS. Quite a few Philadelphia Union fans showed their love and support for the French soccer star. Even though Olivier Giroud has reached the fag end of his career, the fans strongly believe that he would a great addition to the MLS.
Will Giroud move to America or ignore the MLS as Ronaldo did?
Apart from his club career, the 36-year-old is also currently contemplating retirement from international soccer. Giroud has achieved everything he could with France, after lifting the FIFA World Cup with Les Bleus. The French soccer veteran has scored 53 goals for France to date. The real question is if Giroud still has the motivation to add to that goal tally.

Giroud is not the first player to be linked to America. A few weeks back, even Cristiano Ronaldo could have joined an MLS club. According to Fabrizio Romano, Sporting Kansas City offered the Portuguese star a deal too. However, the Portuguese soccer legend did not seem interested in joining the upcoming and newest soccer hub of the soccer universe. Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr instead and then received serious criticism from American soccer fans.
