The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) announced the death of Carmona’s father, hours after she scored the winning goal in the FIFA Women’s World Cup final. Although the federation did not disclose the cause of his demise, he was battling a long illness. Furthermore, Real Madrid was also saddened by the news and did not hold back in expressing its deepest thoughts and condolences to their starlet left back and her family.
Los Blancos published an official statement from their website expressing, “Real Madrid CF, its President and its Board of Directors deeply regret the death of the father of our player Olga Carmona. Real Madrid wants to express its condolences and affection for Olga, her relatives, and all her loved ones. Rest in peace.”

The Spanish FA expressed their regret on X, “The RFEF deeply regrets to announce the death of Olga Carmona’s father. The soccer player learned the sad news after the World Cup final.” According to a Spanish media outlet, Carmona’s family chose not to disclose the news of her father’s death before the game to allow her to focus on what was arguably the most important game of her career.
The former Sevilla defender’s mother and relatives traveled to Australia to support her in the game. They waited until the title celebration to disclose the heartbreaking news. Amidst the saddening news, The Los Blancos fullback performed with the highest potential in the final of the World Cup.
