What’s a sport without intensity and emotion? Soccer is one of the most influential sports in the world, that can unite fans, but it can frustrate you when it doesn’t match your expectations. The MLS is getting tighter as the season progresses and has now given another high-octane clash between two West Coast giants LAFC and Seattle Sounders.

However, after the Washington team succumbed with little fight, an NWSL star for Seattle, Nikki Stanton, asserted that she observed something obnoxious about LAFC during the game.

Taking to her X (previously Twitter) Stanton suggested that a player from the 2023 finalists was up to some severe antics on the field, which made her awkward while watching. She wrote, “To the man on LAFC last night that got “bumped” on the head, proceeded to do 5 rolls and 8 ground slaps – only to walk off the field, immediately start running and going back on within 30 seconds: IM EMBARRASSED FOR YOU.” It seems Stanton prefers a low-drama approach to the game, which may be challenging in soccer.

However, Stanton did not mention who the player is but cited that despite getting knocked, he displayed a few antics that were just a waste of time. But LAFC may have many reasons to celebrate lately and the game against the Sounders was one of them. Winning 3-0 against a 6th-placed team is an authoritative statement made by the Black and Gold Falcons, especially with the attack they created.

On the other hand, the Sounders are having a pretty challenging time staying in the playoff zone. Their loss pushed them below the Houston Dynamo to number 7, while Stanton’s Seattle Reign is struggling at 13th with Stanton playing just 5 games. However, the California team is expected to get even stronger.

The match against the Sounders started with some fortune for LAFC, as the Sounders were penalized for messing up a ball in their penalty area, leading to a handball. Although the first goal came through a penalty, LAFC’s next two goals were brilliant strikes, which showed why they are again the favorites for this year’s title.

Moreover, their attack is expected to get a boost, as the 2018 World Cup winner and France’s all-time highest scorer Olivier Giroud is set to join their offense after August 1.

This could prove vital as LAFC will be in pole position to compete with Inter Miami and LA Galaxy’s attack for the title run. Giroud will have last year’s Golden Boot winner Denis Bouanga and Uruguayan international Cristian Olivera on the wings, making the 2022 champions a serious attacking threat.

However, the players’ passion is not expected to come down, and more emotions are expected to come out, especially in the tournament’s latter stages. What is your take on the matter? Let us know in the comments.
