Leeds United signed Weston McKennie on loan from Juventus earlier this year in an attempt to bolster the squad. It was a deal on a six-month-long loan with an option to buy. The purchase option will be valid if the club stays up, which looks difficult as the relegation battle is getting tougher.
USMNT legend feels the loan deal of Weston McKennie is a failure
USMNT legends Alexi Lalas and David Mosse were on the State Of The Union podcast. They discussed the loan deal of the USMNT midfielder Weston McKennie to Leeds United from Juventus. Lalas was critical of the performances of the Leeds United midfielder.
Lalas said, “He is still the property o Juventus. So the loan I think right now, and regardless of what happens next, I think six games or whatever I think will have been looked at as we get back to this a failure.” Lalas feels the loan deal was unsuccessful. “And again, we’ll talk about this later. But it has not been successful, and there could be a number of different reasons,” the USMNT legend added.
“Now Juventus has to decide what they are ultimately going to do. The criticism that Weston McKennie has come in for is completely fair and completely warranted,” USMNT legend said, speaking about the criticism McKennie has received. It will be interesting to see how the midfielder responds to the critique. Whether he inspires the club in the relegation battle remains to be seen.

Leeds United was in a somewhat better position. But a recent run of games has resulted in the club fighting the relegation battle. They are winless in the last five games, getting only a point from those games. Leeds is on 30 points and 17th in the table.
They are level on points with 18th-placed Nottingham Forest, ahead on goal difference. It will be an uphill task for the club to stay up with tough final four fixtures. They will play Manchester City before in form Newcastle United travels to Elland Road. Next will be the trip to London to play against relegation-threatened West Ham United before playing Tottenham Hotspur on the final matchday of the season.
