“Now You’ll Pay Me” – Having Refused Stunt Due to ‘a Really Compromising Position’, 56-Year-Old Salma Hayek Applauds Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham Success

It has been a couple of days since Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham AFC broke the exile of 15 years. The team will finally be playing in England’s Football League again. A season of sheer dominance and standout performances by the likes of Paul Mullin and Ben Foster toward the end ensured that this season is the last one in non-league.

Almost ten thousand fans roared from the stadium, and countless sports and Hollywood personalities applauded the team’s performance on social media. Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney fulfilled their promise and lifted the club up from their Football League exile.

Among many names, Paul ‘The Ant-Man’ Rudd was also present in the Racecourse Ground when his MCU co-star lifted the Nation League trophy. The latest name in the list of personalities talking about Wrexham is Reynolds’ ‘Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard’ co-star Salma Hayek.

Salma Hayek congratulated Ryan Reynolds and Wrexham

After David Beckham and Gary Lineker, Salma Hayek shared the picture of owners lifting trophies on her Instagram Stories. Although, apart from congratulating, her message was a bit more personal than other Hollywood stars.

In the story talked about Ryan Reynolds’ club-winning promotion, Hayek added a picture holding 3-year-old Betty Reynolds. She wrote, “Little did I know that the person I was babysitting for would buy a Welsh club that would win a national league title! Good for us, maybe now you’ll pay me @ryanreynolds.”

Salma Hayek has been close to the Reynolds family, as the stars have appeared together on the big screen in multiple movies. About a couple of years back, Hayek revealed how Reynolds stopped her and other cast members from doing a harmless stunt.

When Hayek declined to do a stunt with Reynolds

In June 2021, Salma Hayek revealed how, despite doing most of the stunts together, she had once decided not to go through it. In an interview, she said, “Mr. Reynolds just starts laughing before we start shooting, he’s just losing it, right before the ‘Action!’ And we were like, ‘What’s wrong with you?’”

Hayek continued, “And he [laughs some more] and starts describing how he sees the scene [and] what’s gonna happen when we start falling because of the darts. “It’s not dangerous, it’s just a really compromising position, the way we fall.”

Or as Reynolds clarified, “My head falls straight into Salma’s butt.” To which Hayek added, “And my face falls straight into Sam’s crotch.”

And we were laughing for a long time and Sam’s laughing super-loud. And then all of a sudden we said, ‘Yeah, that’s great… Let the [stunt people] do it.”
