The golden age of Manchester United in the 90s, driven by Sir Alex Ferguson, was one of the most iconic periods in soccer history. But one cannot deny the fact that David Beckham formed its soul as the team progressed. One of the most loved players, Beckham, chose Real Madrid apart from the Red Devils as his preferred team instead of his former MLS club and current rival LA Galaxy. However, he did admit that he hoped to ‘start and end‘ his career at Old Trafford itself, which did not really pan out his way.
His decision to leave Manchester United changed his career altogether. The player did not stay for a longer period at any club and was also filled with many other commitments aside from soccer. But David Beckham, despite playing for many clubs, remains nostalgic about his first two homes.

Manchester United and Real Madrid have always exchanged many great players in the past. But one of the most iconic transfers in the 2000s was that of David Beckham. According to the Englishman, Real Madrid was the only club he could see himself at, apart from Manchester United. The freekick specialist revealed in a recent trailer video named ‘Universo Real Madrid’, “I always thought and hoped that I would start and end my career at Manchester United, but the only other club I ever wanted to play for was Real Madrid.” His desire was fulfilled, but it was not to his liking. He had to undergo a lot of stress while moving away to Real Madrid, including unrest with Sir Alex.
The changing room exchange where Sir Alex reportedly threw a boot at the player had been on his mind all the while, as he never wanted to leave Manchester United in the first place, except that they wanted to let go of him. Finally, David Beckham moved to Madrid for a deal worth upwards of $40 million in June 2003. The player majorly won a La Liga title just before leaving the club in 2007.
Santiago Bernabéu was a dream destination for many stars. However, it was David Beckham’s ability that got him a place with such ease. Real Madrid was already a nine-time European champion, having stars like Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo Nazario, Raul, and Roberto Carlos. After his stint in Spain, Beckham then made a move to LA Galaxy to get even bigger recognition.

David Beckham’s underestimated time at the LA Galaxy
Despite his ups and downs, he had a significant influence on all the teams he played for. Even though LA Galaxy was not a club he foresaw landing in, David Beckham cherished many moments at the club. The player won two MLS titles, scoring 20 goals and assisting the team 42 times in a 124 games. However, as things turn out LA Galaxy itself indirectly created a new rival Inter Miami. It was the club that allowed the Englishman, as part of his contract, to buy an MLS team for $25 million.

But the star’s impetus went beyond the pitch. David Beckham became a marketing symbol for Major League Soccer. The player created record sales for the club’s jerseys and ended up selling more than 300,000 of them every year. Ultimately, it was his golden years at Manchester United and Real Madrid that will remain in his heart forever instead of his current rivals of Inter Miami, LA Galaxy.
