With just six more matches to go, fans are getting closer and closer to knowing which team will secure automatic promotion. Wrexham AFC has been one of the most prominent teams in the league this season. They are on a dream run and are hot favorites to get the promotion.

On the back of league-topping performances from Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer, Wrexham has climbed the ladder to the tabletop. While Paul Mullin is the key part of this roaster, fans are wondering why the mercurial striker isn’t playing for the national team of Wales.

Paul Mullin is eligible to play for Wales through his grandmother. He has talked about this recently, stating that he would love to play international fixtures. Fans were expecting a call-up for him for the EURO Qualifiers. However, that dream never became a reality.

Wrexham star talks about prospective Wales call up

Although he is making waves in the National League for the Welsh club, he is still waiting for his first international call-up. In a recent talk, he shared his thoughts and emotions about what feels about his chances of playing international soccer.

Mullin said, “It’s not something I think about and it’s not something I expect to happen. Obviously, it would be lovely if it did happen but it’s not something I expect, it’s not something I think will happen. But you never know in football. All I can do is go and play football and enjoy it, score as many goals as I can, and win as many games as I can.”

He continued, “If I do get called up, obviously it would be an unbelievable achievement and I would be over the moon. It would be the biggest achievement of my life but I don’t expect it to come, although I would love it to come.” Clearly, international soccer has a special place in his heart, although his current focus is clearly on something else.

Mullin’s priority despite an 89-year-old record

Paul Mullin this season has scored 43 goals for Wrexham across a couple of tournaments. He is just 8 goals behind in being the all-time highest scorer in a single season for the club. The current record belongs to Tommy Bamford, who set it in 1933-34. However, according to Mullin himself, he couldn’t care less about this record.
