The month of August embarks on a new domestic season. Likewise, Wrexham AFC are also buzzing to kickstart their EFL League Two journey. The last year’s National League winners are already touted to clinch another promotion. However, the club’s star Ben Foster isn’t liking it at all!

Just three days remain until the Red Dragons finally end their 15-year exile. Interestingly, just before the start of the campaign, the odds of winning the title were already in their favor. But Foster is unbothered by such tags.

As the big kick-off against MK Dons approaches home on Saturday, expectations are once again high. However, Foster isn’t getting carried away with such acclaim. The goalkeeper is keeping his feet on the ground as he emphasizes the importance of the players staying focused and prepared for the upcoming challenge.

“We will enjoy this season,” he said, as stated by the Leader. “Stuff about us being favorites, none of us pay attention to that. We know it is going to be tough, we know that if we are not on it we will get beat.” The 40-year-old is humble enough to realize what kinds of challenges may lay down ahead of their title charge.

“You have go to go into every single game giving it everything you have got,” he said. While Foster maintains a realistic outlook, it doesn’t imply that the former England international lacks ambition for further achievements with Wrexham. “If you go into a season not hoping for that or not thinking about that, you are probably doing something wrong,” he added.

“Ten other teams will be thinking ‘We can get promoted here’. That is our mindset going into this season and rightly so,” concluded the Cycling goalkeeper. It seems the goalkeeper is keen to lead his side to yet another domestic triumph. Either way, it leads to one question: can they earn another promotion?

Can Wrexham AFC clinch another promotion?

Judging by the last season’s performance, Wrexham surely remains a tough contender to once again clinch another silverware. Given the National League’s promotion system, it is indeed a remarkable achievement for the Reynolds’ side to win the automatic promotion. Now comparing it with the fourth division’s three-team promotion system, it definitely makes things easier for them. Meanwhile, the pre-season U.S. tour did give them a fair chance to test the waters before starting off with the new campaign.

However, the Red Dragons shouldn’t forget the competition they’ll face to get the top-three spot in League Two.  Surely, the team is competitive enough to intimidate other sides, they must not get overconfident of their chances. It remains to be seen how they manage to keep the title-favorites tag throughout the season.
