Soccer fans united after the Kylian Mbappe Show!
Although France lost the trophy after a penalty shootout, one name who was talked about more than anything was Kylian Mbappe. However, when one fan on Twitter compared an unimaginable save by Emiliano Martinez to the classic block by LeBron James in the NBA finals of 2016, hell broke loose. Fans rushed to defend the honor of their favorite sport. Here are a few reactions:
literally everyone in the world will. nobody outside of the usa cares about lebron and DEFINITELY won’t remember his block

The World Cup Final is the biggest sporting match on the planet and only happens once every 4 years. It is MUCH harder to get to that stage than it is to get to the NBA Finals. Messi's only been here twice. Ronaldo has never been here. LeBron's been to the Finals 10 times.

It was bro, last second one on one save to send the game to penalties, this might be the most important save in football history

Having seen both live there’s no argument in favour or Lebron’s being better…
This is 3-3 with minutes left of the World Cup final…if Martinez doesn’t stop this, it’s 4-3 and essentially game over
Lebron doesn’t stop that block GS go up by 2 points with 1:50 to go

In the context of the game it was…. It was 1-on-1, and the keeper played it beautifully

I can't believe you are comparing a once in a lifetime save to a block which though very significant, anything could have happened in the minutes/ seconds remaining

When LeBron James denied Iguodala
The 2016 NBA finals were full of action and the 7-match series was tied 3-3. Both teams (Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors) entered, knowing what they were fighting for. The match was so close, the victory must have felt like a ping-pong ball. Both teams were neck and neck up to the last minutes of the game, and then it happened. The score was tied, and the clock had 1 minute and 50 seconds remaining. Andre Iguodala made a layup attempt which was magically denied by 6’8” giant LeBron James.

The block got so famous that we know it today as ‘The Block’. Lack of creativity aside, this incident got so famous that you probably would have seen a clip of it even if you have never watched a full game of basketball.
