Tunisia opened the scoring against France in their final game of the group stages of the FIFA World Cup. Wahbi Khazri’s 2nd half-goal put them ahead of the defending champions and in pole position to qualify for the knockouts. However, 2 mins later, in the other group game, Australia scored against Denmark, quashing Tunisia’s hopes. But Tunisia scored a brilliant goal and caught everyone by surprise. They won the game against defending champions but failed to qualify for the knockouts.

Montpellier striker Wahbi Khazri opened the scoring for Tunisia against France. It was a brilliant team effort from the African side. However, it was disastrous defending from France, who fielded Konate and Varane as the center-back pairing in this game.

France has already qualified for the knockout stages of the tournament. However, three straight wins could have given them massive confidence before their Round of 16 tie. Tunisia brought back their hopes of qualifying for the knockouts as they scored against France. Tunisia started its world cup campaign with a scoreless draw against Denmark. However, they lost 1-0 against Australia. They had just one point before coming into the game. However, they had hope as France coach Didier Deschamps rested some of his top players, including Kylian Mbappe. Tunisia managed to stop France from scoring and took the lead through an insane goal. However, despite that, Tunisia is out of the World Cup as Australia finished 2nd with a win over Denmark.

There was a big drama at the end as Antoine Griezmann scored a goal in the 90+8 min. Australia had won the game already and Tunisia was out of the knockouts by then. A win seemed the only positive for the African side. A draw could have been a massive blow to the team that played their hearts out. However, the goal was ruled offside and Tunisia went on to win the game 1-0.

France’s opponents for the round of 16

France has already qualified for the knockout stages of the ongoing FIFA World Cup. They will face a team from Group C that features Poland, Argentina, Mexico, and Saudi Arabia. Poland and Argentina will face each other in their final group game of the competition. Poland leads the table with 4 points after their win against Saudi Arabia.

Argentina sits 2nd on the table with 3 points from two games. However, they may be able to lead the group if they beat Poland. The group is still wide open, as all four teams can qualify for the knockouts.
