Welsh side Wrexham had a historic moment last year with King Charles visiting the iconic Racecourse Ground. However, while owners Ryan Reynolds and Paul Mullin were giddy about the visit, it seems the team’s star striker was not too pleased. Paul Mullin in his book, ‘My Wrexham Story’, has penned his thoughts on the Kings’ visit.

Unlike Mullin, Ryan and Rob could not contain their excitement at the prospect of the visit from the King. The duo even went out of their way and took special classes to ensure they greeted the royal couple ideally.

Notably, Mullin was not too pleased with King Charles’ tour of the Racecourse Ground. The striker believes that the King’s visit threw the players off their training and gave them less time to prepare for the upcoming fixture.

The Wrexham ace wrote, “What the King’s visit meant to me wasn’t a chance to bow to the aristocracy. It meant a wrecking ball smashing through our schedule for the game the next day at Eastleigh – one of our more distant away fixtures. I’ll be straight. This visit might have been billed as a historic day for Wrexham, but it wasn’t for me.”

He then further added, “I’ve no interest in royalty. I don’t see why anyone should have the God-given right to be born into such wealth, and then for us to pay for them as well. It just comes down to basic fairness. How can one family be entitled to so much just through an accident of birth and then spend their whole lives being lauded for it?”

The royal couple met the Wrexham owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds last year in December. The Hollywood duo made every effort to make a positive impression in front of the King.

The duo were particularly excited to host the royalty on their home ground, claiming it as a historic moment for the team. Reynolds even claimed, “Rob and I both said early on, and this holds true and for the rest of our lives, we will do anything to uplift and elevate this community and this club, and having the King pay a visit is certainly one way to do it. That’s for sure. Very excited.”
