The Football League journey has begun for Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney, and Wrexham AFC. Last night, the Welsh side finally ended their 15-year exile as they kicked off the EFL League Two campaign. Aside from this, yesterday also marked the first baby steps of NFL icon Tom Brady into new territory. His arrival in the English Football Pyramid was welcomed by the Deadpool star.
It was announced on Wednesday that the 7x Super Bowl champion had acquired a minority stake in the EFL Championship side, Birmingham City, thus expanding his already extensive portfolio.

Apart from Birmingham City FC, Brady already has a minority stake in the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces. In the previous month, he made a purchase of a racing boat team alongside Rafael Nadal and F1 star Sergio Perez as well. Now, Brady has now stepped into the soccer world thanks to the West Midlands club. Subsequently, the Wrexham owners were asked about their views on this update.
Both were giving an interview to Sky Sports before their team’s clash against MK Dons. When asked what they made of it, Reynolds said, “I know Tom a little bit, and you know, I don’t think you need to know him to understand that he has the spirit of a lion and a competitor in every way shape, and form. So I’m sure whatever he has cooked up or planned for Birmingham, he’s gonna bring it.”

Interestingly, McElhenney was asked if he had any advice for Brady, to which he gave a hilarious response. “I would never presume to give Tom Brady words of wisdom as it pertains to professional sports. If you (Brady) have any advice for us, if you could just send our way, we’d appreciate it.” Reynolds continued the joke by giving his address, “Yeah, it’s P.O box 165.”
Indeed, the classic banter from the Hollywood duo, but hearing Reynolds’ words, it seems the Deadpool star is excited to have the ex-NFL star as a soccer club owner. After all, he was an inspiration to Brady for buying the stake in Birmingham in the first place.

After retiring from the NFL at the conclusion of the 2022 season, Brady has been actively expanding his off-field endeavors. This involves establishing his clothing brand and making investments in different sports franchises. Likewise, Birmingham City also became a part of one of his investment portfolios, something he learned from Reynolds.
A source close to Daily Mail revealed his true inspiration to join the Championship side. “He has seen what Ryan Reynolds did with Wrexham and is doing with Wrexham, and he wants a piece of that for himself. He is going to fully support them in his time as part owner.”
It’s good to hear that Reynolds is out there inspiring people for a good cause. Surely, Brady will be looking forward to seeing his Championship side face the Deadpool star’s club in a match someday.
