In the summer of 2017, PSG signed Neymar Jr. from Spanish giants Barcelona. The Brazilian shocked the entire world after making a record $222 million transfer. The Parisians were desperate for success in Europe and broke the bank for the attacker in order to usher in a new era.

To spice things up, they also added Kylian Mbappe to their lofty ranks, thus making them the most powerful attacking team in Europe. However, even after having the best squad, they failed to achieve their goals in Europe.
To this day, the French team is attempting to build a successful team and seek Champions League glory. In order to bolster the team, PSG stole another star from Barcelona, as Lionel Messi also agreed to a move to the Ligue 1 giants in 2021. Despite PSG’s desire to bask in glory with the help of the dynamic trio, it looks like things will come to a premature end for the renowned partnership.
Season-ending injury for Neymar
Ever since the 31-year-old made a switch to PSG from Barcelona, his success graph has been declining. The attacker has constantly missed half of his time in the French capital due to long-term injuries.
The playmaker came to become a star at Parc des Princes but has failed to establish any impact on the club. And once again, injury has taken its toll on Neymar. The attacker picked up the injury on February 19th, during their emphatic 4-3 win against LOSC Lille.

The Brazilian was forced off the pitch after twisting his right ankle. The club has confirmed that he will miss three to four months and will travel to Doha for his surgery. Fans already trolled the Brazilian star for consistently missing matches during this time of the season.
Nevertheless, the 31-year-old has left the club in disarray ahead of their Champions League fixture, effectively abandoning the dynamic he had with Messi and Mbappe. Indeed, it has been a heartbreaking moment for both Neymar and the club.
Is this the end of the star duo?
With Neymar set to miss the remaining season, the club is now dependent on their star duo of Mbappe and Messi. However, this was the last time we saw the MNM trio, as he might never play with them again.
With the player in a loop of constant injuries, PSG is now considering his future and might offload the player in the future. The club is looking for potential suitors, with Chelsea and Barcelona being the two interested clubs.
Lionel Messi will join Inter Miami in 2023 when his PSG contract ends. He has reportedly agreed to acquire 35% stake of the MLS club — estimated to be worth over $200 million. pic.twitter.com/9ttOVqdkLN

Even if the club can’t offload him, he still might not play with his attacking compatriot, Messi. Reports from several sources reveal that Messi is garnering huge interest from Inter Miami. David Beckham’s team might try to lure the World Cup winner to MLS.
It’s unlikely that Mbappe will leave the club this early after the 24-year-old signed a mouthwatering contract. But he’ll surely leave someday. Nevertheless, it is yet to be seen who leaves first. Either way, this might be the ending of the star trio.
