However, the move might soon die down as a rumor. Per reports, Neymar‘s national team has snubbed his club coach from the list of likely candidates for the role. At the heart of the snub is the veteran manager’s approach towards players.

Fernando Diniz, who already coaches Fluminense, has been acting as Brazil’s interim manager since Tite left in 2022. In order to fill that void, Brazil was close to making Jorge Jesus an offer. But never more.

‘Al Riyadh’ journalist Mohammed Hamdi recently took to X and gave out the word that Brazil is no longer interested in Neymar’s boss, Jorge Jesus. “An informed source in the Brazilian Football Confederation told me that Al Hilal club coach Jorge Jesus is not currently among the names nominated to lead the Brazilian national team; Because of his “confrontational” personality with players,” said Mohammed Hamdi. Brazil’s decision is indeed surprising, considering that Brazil legends like Filipe Luis thought he would be the side’s next coach.

Anyhow, the Selecao Canarinha’s concerns about the Portuguese’s boss’ confrontational nature are no surprise. Very recently, Jesus subbed Brazil star Michel during an Al Hilal match, much to the player’s dismay. Since the player’s frustration was evident, Jesus decided to draw daggers on the field. Well, that was a recent one. The 69-year-old has earlier also confronted players when things have gone wrong.

Jesus’ prior fallouts with players

Jorge Jesus shot to superstardom as a manager during his stint with the Portuguese powerhouse, Benfica. He has won a staggering 1o titles with the Portuguese outfit, only to get sacked before his contract ended. At the heart of the dismissal was a locker room grudge. The then Benfica stars Andre Almeida and Valentino Lazaro were unhappy with the coach’s tactics and his decisions to bench them. Besides, rumors had it that Jesus and former Benfica captain Luis Fernandez ultimately gave way to the manager’s sacking.
