Dani Alves received a sigh of relief last night after the court granted him bail with conditions. The former soccer player has been asked to fork out $1.08 million for his bail in the assault case. However, with the player currently going through financial turbulence, reports emerged that Neymar Jr’s father, who shares close ties with Alves, would pay the bail amount. However, the reports seem like nothing but rumors, with Neymar Jr’s father rebuking the news with a social media post.

Neymar Santos Sr. took to his Instagram as he stated, “As everyone knows, at first, I helped Dani Alves without any link with any lawsuit. In this second moment, in a different situation from the previous one, in which the Spanish Courts have already decided for the conviction, they are speculating and trying to associate my name and my son’s with a matter that is no longer up to us today.”

He added, “I hope Daniel finds with his own family all the answers he is looking for. For us, for my family, the matter is over. Period!”

It could be an enormous blow for Dani Alves, as the player might have to look for different sources to submit his bail amount. Alves is on the verge of bankruptcy, with his lawyers displaying a negative balance on his accounts in a hearing earlier this year. Still, the bail notice could provide the player with some relief, considering the time he’s served behind bars.

Dani Alves granted bail under special circumstances

The Spanish Court granted the former Barcelona star bail last night, with his lawyers pleading with the court to grant him relief. Alves’ lawyers requested the player’s bail, considering he has already spent a quarter of his punishment pre-trial detention following his arrest in December 2022. The court agreed to their plea before laying out specific terms and conditions for his bail.

Based on the court’s ruling, Alves will have to be present in the court weekly to mark his attendance. The player has also been forbidden from leaving Spain, with the court asking the player to surrender with Spanish and Brazilian passports. In addition, the court has also imposed a restraining order against the player, barring him from coming within a set radius of the victim.

While Alves’ side has applauded the court’s decision, the victim’s lawyer has not been so reciprocal. The victim’s lawyer, Ester Garcia, commented on the court’s ruling while addressing the media, stating, “To me, it’s a scandal that they let a person who they know can get a million euros in no time walk free.”

With the prosecutor set to appeal against the decision, it will be fascinating to see what’s next for Dani Alves in the coming weeks.
