The Saudi Pro League table-toppers have lost Prince Bandar bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Kabeer, who passed away a few hours ago. The former president of Al-Hilal had been suffering from health issues for quite some time and took his last breath surrounded by family.

Prince Bandar Bin Mohammad was in charge of the club from 1997 to 2000. During his three-year tenure in Riyadh, Al-Hilal established itself as one of the top teams in the Middle East, winning nine titles during his reign. The former president was known for his passion for the beautiful game and will be deeply missed by the club and its supporters.

According to Saudi media outlet NewsNow4Sports, former Al-Hilal president Bandar bin Mohammad has passed away. Bandar bin Thamer bin Saud Al Saud was born to Saudi Prince Thamer bin Saud and Princess Al-Anoud bint Saud. As the youngest child of the family, the former Al-Hilal president was said to be the favorite child of his family.

“The death of former Al Hilal Club President Prince Bandar bin Mohammed,” announced the outlet of his death.

The prince, at the mere age of eleven, volunteered in the Saudi forces participating in the Gulf War. In his early years, following his graduation from the King Abdulaziz Military College, the Prince also made his love for soccer evident, as he spent hours working with the staff at Al-Hilal.

His efforts did not go unrecognized as he was eventually appointed as the club president. He was also the head of the honorary council of members of Al-Hilal Sports Club.

Bandar bin Mohammad’s beginnings at Al Hilal, and his return to the seat

The prince kick-started his career with Al-Hilal as he started working as the club’s General Supervisor for the youth team in 1991. He spent two years at the position, helping develop the Al-Hilal’s youth system. Following his work with the youth team, Bandar bin Mohammad was appointed as the club’s president in 1997.

He served his role at the club from 1997 to 2000. Notably, he took the mantle again in 2015 in a cameo during a turbulent time at the club. Prince Bandar bin Mohammad will surely be remembered for his impact on the club and as one of the many individuals responsible for taking Al-Hilal to where it is today.
