The recently concluded World Cup has again sparked the debate, with Messi fans thinking it’s over. Messi now has the most coveted trophy in international football. The fans are already claiming the Argentine wizard will win his 8th Balon d’Or, and the debate will end forever. However, Ronaldo fans aren’t ready to give up and have reacted to the claims.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is team Messi
The comments of the former Swedish star resurfaced on Twitter when he was speaking on the Messi-Ronaldo debate. It has drawn furious reactions from Ronaldo’s set fans and the ones who are not fans of his outspoken nature. Ibrahimovic said, “The only thing Ronaldo is ahead of Messi is age.”
Fans were quick to point out that the AC Milan striker is jealous of Ronaldo and needs to keep quiet. Some fans reminded that Ibrahimovic is yet to win a UEFA Champions League in his career. They drew a comparison between the careers of Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic.

The former LA Galaxy star has always been in the news with his poking fun comments and weird reactions. Whether it was sending LeBron James a gifted jersey back with an autograph, or saying himself a Ferrari when slamming Pep Guardiola for the treatment of a player at Barcelona.
It was not his first time speaking on the long-standing and biggest soccer debate. He is not the only one to have spoken on the debate, though. Many former and current soccer stars have weighed on the debate.
Soccer stars on Ronaldo and Messi’s team
The soccer legends have admired both players for their heroics on the field. Ronaldo and Messi were the dominant force in club soccer as well as on the international stage. They absolutely lit La Liga for almost a decade.

Former United teammate of Ronaldo thinks Messi edges Ronaldo. Paul Scholes, David Beckham, and Ronaldo Nazario are amongst others with Diego Maradona, who also thinks Messi is slightly better than Ronaldo. On the other hand, Ronaldo also has admirers with the likes of Pele, Zinedine Zidane, Roberto Carlos, and Kylian Mbappe.
The debate will be never-ending, but as soccer fans, we are fortunate to see the rivalry throughout their careers. Both soccer legends are nearing the pinnacle of their careers, and one can just keep enjoying seeing them taking the field.
