The hamstrings are a cluster of muscles behind one’s thigh, which aids in the running ability of a sprinter. Athletes train their hamstrings well to improve their speed and control their knees. But, after excessive running, hamstrings not recovering well would cause strains and cramps that lead to significant injuries. Therefore, Bolt suffered from this phenomenon during the latter stages of his career. Despite the unusual nature of the procedure, this treatment is not a rare event, as evidenced by another athlete undergoing the same procedure.
