“Nervy as Hell”- Despite Securing 100 Points, Wrexham AFC’s Ryan Reynolds Remains Anxious as Club Eyes Promotion

Soccer season in Europe is a few weeks away from its end. The title races and relegation battles are getting intense. Also, the clubs from lower divisions are fighting it out for promotion to higher leagues. Likewise, Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham AFC is also one of the clubs fighting the promotion battle.

Wrexham was relegated to the Vanarama National League in 2008. Since then, they have been striving to get back to the Football League. They stayed in the Football League for 87 years before relegating to the National League in 2008. Wrexham is closer to getting an automatic promotion, and their co-owner Ryan Reynolds is nervous.

Ryan Reynolds is getting “nervy” 

The third oldest soccer club in the world is six games away from knowing their fate for the next season. They will play Torquay United on April 29, their final game of the National League 2022-23 season. Their co-owner and Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds is anxious, with six games to go. 

The Deadpool star recently took to Instagram and shared a story of his nervy feeling. He wrote, “A big few weeks ahead for Wrexham AFC. Nervy as hell.” Wrexham is top of the table with 100 points. They lead Notts County by three points and have a game in hand. 

Every remaining game will be a final for Wrexham, who are eyeing promotion to League Two. They are on 27 games unbeaten run in the league and would hope to continue their streak. The Welsh club has scored 105 goals this season, the most by any club in a season in the National League. 

It will be a significant achievement for the club and the owners. Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have invested passionately in the club. If the club achieves promotion, it will be a great success for the owners in their second full season. They will be waiting anxiously till the end of the month to know the fate of the club.

Wrexham will play Notts County in the title decider

The two clubs that have taken the National League by storm this season are Notts County and Wrexham AFC. Both are way away from the remaining clubs and the only title contenders in the Vanarama National League. The title contenders will take on each other next week on April 10.

If Wrexham wins, they can potentially go nine points clear of the County. If County wins, the lead at the top will be cut down to three points with four games to go. It will be the intriguing final few weeks in the National League. The winner of the league gets automatically promoted to League Two, and the second-placed team will go into the playoffs for the second promotion spot.
