There is no one at Real Madrid above the club“, remarked Florentino Perez after the Kylian Mbappe saga in 2022. However, signing one of the biggest talents seems to have been too hard to resist. As a result, Los Blancos have again expressed their desire to sign the lethal striker. However, the news is that the Frenchman’s camp isn’t too convinced by the offer. And this draws the ire of many including a pundit who is close with Florentino Perez.

Speaking on El Chiringuito de Jugones, soccer pundit Josep Pedrerol is not happy with the latest news. He doesn’t agree with giving Kylian Mbappe a higher base salary than the rest of the squad. Instead, he feels the attacker should get performance-based bonuses. He explained, “You will get the bonuses. You will get more money. But on the chip, you will earn the same as others. And I think Madrid will understand it. And he can understand it.”

On the other hand, Pedrerol is quite firm in his stance regarding not offering the Frenchman any special treatment. He said, “If Mbappe arrives saying ‘I need 1 Euro more than Bellingham’, I think he doesn’t deserve to play for Madrid.” His wage at the Parisian club is about $80 million without bonuses. Madrid’s offer is less than the previous one from 2 years ago, as per The Athletic. In 2022, they were ready to offer him $28 million per season, along with a signing bonus of $140 million!

Real Madrid’s stance regarding Kylian Mbappe seems puzzling. With 52 goals in 2023, the Frenchman is among the best performers in soccer today. Moreover, now he would arrive as a free agent and Los Blancos need not pay a dime to PSG. A recent report has shown why Los Blancos are not going all out on the Frenchman.

As per reports, a reason why Real Madrid does not intend to give Mbappe his desired wages is to preserve the squad harmony. Earning $26.5 million, Toni Kroos is the highest-paid star at the club. Even if the lethal striker halves his current wages to $40 million, that is still significantly more than any Real Madrid star.

Moreover, having spent over $100 million on Jude Bellingham last summer, it is likely that Los Blancos might be tight on finances. It is also important to note the significant amount involved in the renovation of the iconic Bernabeu. Even on the sporting side, there are opinions that Madrid should look at Erling Haaland over the PSG ace.
