In the sit-down interview with NBA, Neymar explained, “We first met because he made a video of playing soccer in Brazil’s uniform. Then we started exchanging messages through Instagram and over the phone. Soon he went to Paris, and we met in person, and then, he went to my place in Rio. And we became even closer.” The Brazilian appeared for the two Miami Heat’s home games at the Kaseya Center. Despite not being able to win in those two games, Neymar came in to support his friend. He explained how close they have become in recent times.
Neymar continued, “Nowadays we have close contact. I love him. He is such a nice guy, not only with me but with everyone around. I admire him a lot, not only on the court but off the court as well. This friendship is very special.” Likewise, Butler explained how he got inspiration from watching the soccer star’s videos and vice versa.
