“My Mind Went Blank” – USWNT Star Trinity Rodman Recalled Being ‘Shocked’ by Father Dennis Rodman’s First Appearance on the Sidelines Back in 2022

The father-daughter bond between soccer player Trinity Rodman and former NBA player Dennis Rodman is sketchy. It is not a surprise to know both of them do not have a rock-solid relationship. Although Rodman is a charismatic character on and off the court, Trinity always explained how her father was not there for her.

But once, the former iconic Bulls player visited to watch her daughter play. To this, Trinity could not believe what arose and opened up on the day when her father saw her play. In a podcast, she detailed her first-hand experience meeting her dad Dennis and how she could not believe it. Here’s what she had to say about the first meet-up. 

Trinity Rodman explains her first meeting with father Dennis Rodman

In a podcast episode of ESPN Daily in 2022, she opened up about her first meeting with her father. Rodman stated, “When I saw my dad on the sidelines, I don’t even know if there was a thought. I think my mind went blank. I was in shock and had so many feelings but also none.” Seeing her father attend the game for the first time shook her. Therefore, Trinity could not believe what had transpired. 

She posted an Instagram post about how overwhelming the whole meeting was. She captioned, “This last game was an extremely emotional one. Yes Dennis Rodman showed up to an NWSL game, but also my dad, after YEARS surprised me at a big game in my career, I was shocked, overwhelmed, happy, sad, everything.”

Currently, she is one of the best soccer players in the world and had earlier spoken about the troubles she faced. Therefore, the soccer game meet-up became a decisive moment in her life. 

Trinity shines bright for USWNT

The father and daughter had a rocky relationship for several years. Due to his wild partying image off the court and struggles with alcohol, his family life took a U-turn. In an interview with ESPN in 2019, Dennis Rodman explained how being a good dad was the only thing he regretted. He couldn’t convince himself that he did a fair job in parenting. 

Amounting all these years, Trinity struggled to get to where she is now in life. But right now, she is one of the finest players on the USWNT team. Considering the 2023 World Cup is on the way, she looks to be a calming influence on her teammates. The relationship with her father turned out to be complicated for Trinity. But, she has a second family in USWNT who helps her to achieve her goals.
