Days After World Cup Humiliation, Megan Rapinoe Approves 23-Year-Old USWNT Star’s Vacation

A few weeks ago, the USWNT suffered from one of its most tragic upsets in the World Cup. Predicted to achieve a three-peat, Megan Rapinoe and her US soccer squad came crashing out of the Women’s World Cup. They just couldn’t get past Sweden in the Ro16. Weeks later, one of the youngsters from the squad posted a picture carousel from her mini getaway after the international tournament. Among the thousands of fans, Rapinoe was quick to acknowledge the much-needed break.

Most of the USWNT members have gone silent and lowkey after their unexpected exit. It has been a wonky summer for soccer in America. On one end their women’s national team came crashing out and on the other end, Lionel Messi will be gracing the MLS in his pink jersey.

Megan Rapinoe reacts to a USWNT youngster’s mini getaway

Soon after the World Cup, USWNT’s Naomi Girma went on a mini-vacation. She was one of the players who started each and every game for her country. Without a doubt, the young defender had solid performances in all the games. Just hours ago, she posted a very calming carousel of pictures on Instagram. Along with her pals, she was off to some place secluding herself from all the criticism.

This carousel has gone viral on social media as this was her first post since her note to the fanbase after the World Cup. In the carousel, there are pictures from her airplane journey, in the swimming pool, in a luxury boat, and a sneak peek from her hotel room too. This break could prove to be a much-needed one in order to shrug off all the post-World Cup stress.

In the caption, she wrote, “Recharged”. Among the 8000+ likes on the Instagram post, even Megan Rapinoe dropped her reaction too. Simply it means that the soccer veteran enjoyed looking at the carousel and approved her mini-getaway. On the other hand, weren’t the US favorites to win the entire competition? What happened then? USWNT’s 2023 World Cup was a disappointing one

On the positive side, the USWNT did concede just one goal in four games. Sadly, apart from the Vietnam game they only managed to score one goal in three games. The fans constantly complained about the team not being able to complete a decent string of passes. While the squad had an equal balance of veterans and youngsters they failed to gel with each other throughout the tournament.

After their loss to Sweden, the fans were furious and demanded the sacking of Vlatko Andonovski. While he’s no longer in the head coach role, the USWNT is now reportedly targeting a Champions League winner for the role. While club soccer restarts in the women’s soccer circuit again, Lionel Messi has interestingly already picked up his first-ever trophy with Inter Miami in the US.
