“My Social Media Has Been Invaded by Insults”- After Calling Lionel Messi ‘Coward’, Rodrygo Gets Attacked by Racists & Insensitive Trolls

The dust doesn’t seem to have settled after the World Cup qualifier against Brazil and Argentina. The classic game that concluded in favor of the World Champions witnessed a lot of drama. It also grew tensions between the players, as Rodrygo called Lionel Messi a ‘coward’. That seems to have backfired on the Brazilian star, as now he has been subject to harassment on the internet, with him terming it as ‘criminal behavior’.

Additionally, prior to the same game, part of the Argentinian crowd was attacked by Brazilian police, which even forced the players to leave the pitch. A lot has happened in the last few days.

Rodrygo faces the heat from the ‘racists on duty’

The outcome of Brazil and Argentina seems to have surrounded the lives of a few with a lot of predicaments. The latest one to get affected is Rodrygo, who admitted to receiving a lot of racist and insensitive messages on his social media. The Real Madrid star posted a black-and-white picture of himself and added a long caption. He wrote, “The racists are always on duty. My social media has been invaded with insults and all sorts of nonsense.

“It’s here for all to see! If we don’t do what they want, if we don’t behave like they think we should, if we dress something that bothers them, if we don’t bow our heads when attacked, if we occupy spaces they think are theirs, the racists will move into action with their criminal behavior”. Rodrygo then concluded, “Unlucky for them We will not stop!”.

It’s clear that netizens are trolling and pestering the forward with derogatory remarks on his social media. However, the 22-year-old has taken a pragmatic step towards the online racial abuse he’s facing. From the looks of it, all the unpleasant started to flood in after he called Lionel Messi a coward. 

Rodrygo’s surprise name-calling on Lionel Messi

Right after both teams stepped out of their dressing rooms, Rodrygo unexpectedly shouted, “You cowards” at the Argentine players. However, Lionel Messi didn’t let this comment slide and promptly responded to the Brazilian youngster, expressing pride in their status as world champions.

The soccer icon questioned, “We are the world champions, why are we cowards? Look at your mouth”. However, that wasn’t the last bit of chaos and confusion of the night. After the match, Lionel Messi criticized the Brazilian police for their treatment of the local crowd from his homeland. It remains to be seen for how long the happenings of this game will be a matter of discussion among fans.
