It was only a couple of years back when one of the biggest soccer stars, Neymar, announced his split with Nike over the sexual assault probe. And now, just two years later, it looks like his Brazilian teammate, Vinicius Jr, is doing the same.
Vinicius Jr. is one of the most promising young talents in the world today. The 22-year-old has impressed the soccer world with his performance in recent times. He played a major role in his club Real Madrid’s Champions League victory with a goal in the final and played a vital role for both his nation and his club in the past year.

Vinicius Jr. set to split with Nike
The 22-year-old signed his Nike contract when he was only 13 years old and is now calling splits, in spite of having the contract until 2028. Vinicius feels despite his recent impressive performances, he is being undervalued by the $195 billion worth American firm.

It all started following Nike’s World Cup campaign when Vinicius didn’t feature in any of the commercials. The Madrid winger was also a notable absentee during the introduction of Brazil’s new Nike kit, which involved various other Brazilian players.
Vinicius is clearly disappointed with the way Nike has been treating him. He feels like he deserves more respect and recognition for his achievements. Given that Vinicius seeks to end the contract early, it’s likely that court intervention will have the final say to settle the issue.

Nike’s decision to end its contract with Neymar came as a surprise to the soccer world. The Brazilian was one of the biggest names in the sport, and Nike had eight more years left on its contract with him.
However, the decision was made after a Nike employee accused Neymar of sexual assault. The complaint was filed back in 2018 and an investigation was called forth. However, Neymar refused to take part in the investigation. Nike ended its contract with Neymar in August 2020.
