After a fruitful preseason in the US, Wrexham finally kicked off their League Two campaign. The Welsh soccer club just played against MK Dons at the Racecourse and it’s safe to say that the match didn’t go as the Reds planned. It turned out to be a major eye-opener for the owners from Hollywood. Wrexham ended up losing the game, in a poor fashion. The fans were disappointed and a few hard-hitting reactions surfaced on social media.
Although it’s still too early to tell, the club will hope to bounce back soon. Without a doubt, the absence of Paul Mullin played a part in the team’s overall performance.

It just wasn’t meant to be for Ryan Reynolds and his team today. The Welsh soccer club ended up losing the game 3-5 against MK Dons. Reynolds’ pal and Hollywood veteran, Hugh Jackman, was also present for the game. Wrexham didn’t start off well and Eoghan O’Connell’s own goal in the 6th minute made it even worse.
Jonathan Leko had a great game as he managed to score two goals and assist Mohamed Eisa’s goal. Before halftime, Wrexham got one back thanks to Jacob Mendy’s strike. In the second half, the Red Dragons scored twice but it seemed a little too late. Jordan Davies and Anthony Forde scored the goals for Wrexham. Unfortunately, MK Dons’ Daniel Harve scored their fifth goal handing Reynolds’ side the final blow.
The fans were thoroughly disappointed with the team’s performance. There were a few heavy reactions that gave the owners a solid reality check. Here’s how the fans reacted.
Massive reactions to begin with. Without superstars like Paul Mullin on the pitch, Wrexham just weren’t themselves. Quite a few fans called out the club’s wealthy owners.

All in all, it was a shocking start to Wrexham’s League Two campaign. It definitely wasn’t the one that the home fans expected. But it’s too early to judge, isn’t it? While this was just the first game of the season, it surely was a reality check. Also, it was a wake-up call for Parkinson and the squad to better themselves physically, mentally, and tactically with and without the presence of Paul Mullin.

Many will hope for Wrexham to earn back-to-back promotions. Undoubtedly, the absence of Paul Mullin has left a gaping hole in the squad. But Phil Parkinson will look to garner as much momentum from their major home advantage in the first five-game weeks. Just hours ago, the club unveiled their newest signing.
James McClean joined the Red Dragons from Wigan Athletic. The soccer veteran will bring loads of experience to the team similar to the likes of Ben Foster and captain Ben Tozer. After a big loss in their inaugural League Two game, Wrexham is going to need that experience on the pitch. The club’s ultimate Hollywood dream will still be on as long as Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are calling the shots.
