One of Atsu’s Ghanaian teammates also joined the soccer universe in mourning for the soccer star. Mohammed Kudus dedicated his most recent goal to his dear friend. Soon after scoring the goal, Kudus ran straight to the corner flag and lifted his jersey. Kudus had emotionally written “RIP Atsu” on his shirt inside the jersey. The Ghanaian soccer star then went on his knees and paid tribute to his national teammate.

After the game, Kudus also revealed another interesting fact about the tribute. The fans noticed that the Ajax soccer star did not receive a yellow card after removing his jersey. However, the soccer star later explained, “The referee told me it’s not allowed [shirt removal] but he understands because this is a bigger situation than football”. This line only proved that soccer is much bigger than a game.
